At Bodegas Alma De La Sierra (ADLS), our mission extends beyond winemaking—it’s a commitment to breathing life back into the land and communities. One of our most ambitious undertakings is the recovery of abandoned vineyards in the Sierra Nevada, an endeavor that we anticipate will take up to eight years to fully realize.
The Sierra Nevada, with its unique microclimate and rich soil, holds untapped potential for producing exceptional wines. However, decades of neglect have left many vineyards overgrown and soils depleted. Our recovery process begins with meticulous soil analysis and preparation, ensuring the land is ready to sustain vines once more.
Restoring these vineyards isn’t just about planting vines—it’s about fostering biodiversity. Native plants and cover crops are carefully introduced to enrich the soil, prevent erosion, and create a balanced ecosystem. This approach not only ensures healthier vines but also contributes to the overall environmental recovery of the region.
The project also prioritizes traditional winemaking practices, honoring the heritage of the Sierra Nevada while integrating modern, sustainable techniques. By focusing on high-elevation vineyards, we aim to produce wines that reflect the purity of the mountain air and the unique terroir of this extraordinary region.
Reviving these vineyards is a journey of patience and dedication, but the reward lies in creating wines that tell a story of resilience and renewal. At ADLS, we believe the land deserves a second chance—and we’re here to give it just that.
